The September school holidays are one of the shorter breaks in the Singapore school year, making them perfect for a one-week holiday camp or a short family getaway.

For many families, however, the September holiday period isn't exactly the same. International schools can follow very different calendars, with some taking their autumn break later in September or October.

Year-End School Holidays 2026 in Singapore

The longest school holiday of the year begins after the end of the final school term.

For families, the November and December school holidays are the biggest opportunity for travel, Christmas activities and holiday camps.

They're also worth planning earlier than the September break. Popular camp weeks, especially those around December, can fill well before the holidays actually begin.

Winter & December Holiday Camps 2026/27

Newtonshow's Winter Camps 2026/27 run from 23 November 2026 to 29 January 2027, covering the main year-end holiday period as well as January holidays.

What is the school period in Singapore?

The school year for primary and secondary schools in the Little Red Dot is divided into four terms and two semesters. The 1st semester includes Term 1 and Term 2, and the 2nd semester includes Term 3 and Term 4. Typically, each term consists of 10 weeks. Between the terms, there are breaks for March, June, and September school holidays, and a longer break in December.

The academic year in Singaporean schools usually starts in January and ends in November, which is in line with the Ministry of Education (MOE) calendar.

 

Is there school on PSLE oral days?

Primary school students in The Lion City generally do not have school on days when the PSLE Oral and Listening Comprehension examinations take place, as well as during the PSLE marking period.

In the meantime, students in other levels may still have school.

 

Is 5th May a public holiday for poly students?

Following the Polling Day that fell on 3 May 2025, the 5th May was declared by MOE as a public holiday and a day off-in-lieu for students and staff in MOE schools, including polytechnics.

What Can Kids Do During the Singapore School Holidays?

School holidays don't have to mean choosing between travelling overseas and spending every day at home.

Singapore has plenty of options for children during the holidays:

Science and STEM camps are great for children who constantly ask how things work.

Robotics and Maker camps suit children who enjoy building, engineering and problem-solving.

Cooking camps give children a practical activity they can recreate at home.

A child who wants to do something completely different every hour may be happier in a multi-activity camp.

When Should I Book a School Holiday Camp in Singapore?

For shorter holidays such as the September school break, booking a few weeks ahead usually gives families a better choice of locations and programmes.

For the November and December school holidays, it's worth planning considerably earlier because the holiday period is longer and families often want very specific combinations of:
